　　Once famous English philosopher Francis Bacon said,"Reading makes a full man",which means that anyone who wants to be a full man must keep on reading.But books are of various kinds and different contents.Then how to read?
　　Some people say that we should read selectively.They believe that it is not how much one reads but what he reads that really counts.Since we have no enough time to read all kinds of books,we should read selectively to achieve a high efficiency,reading only those that are useful to our majors and future works.Only by this way can we make full use of our time,and gain more practical knowledge.
　　However,others claim that reading extensively is a better choice.In their opinions,different books are of different uses.Just like Bacon mentioned,"Histories make men wise；poets witty；the mathematics subtle; natural philosophy deep; moral grave; logic and rhetoric able to content." Therefore,reading widely is necessary for a full man.
　　In my viewpoint,we should read both selectively and extensively.The two reading ways have their respective roles in our reading.We can read selectively for specialized knowledge,or read widely for general information.Therefore,the combination of the two methods is more reasonable.
　　范文二：As is well known,ours is an age of knowledge explosion.As a carrier of knowledge ,new books are truned out every day.So there has arisen a debate concerning the strategy of reading.Some people think that we should read selectively.They argue that there are too many books in too field fou us to reading,even if we devote our time and energy to reading.
　　Of course,knowledge is power,but we have limited life---almostly less than one hundred years.Books,newspaper,literate,article,file,index…etc that are published in our time are very very many.If adding to foremost,there are univerisy that we are no chance to read preface of books,say nothing of their content.Therefore,we must choose some excellent canonical books to digest.
　　Others hold the opposite opinion.They maintain that we should read extentively so as to broaden our horizon and pusuit an all-round development.There is a commom saying in China,opening a books only one time is benefit to everyone.Accordingly,we should read every books meet to us and trying our best to reading as more as possible is one of duties to us every day.We must believe we are living is to reding.They argue that only by doing that can we adapt ourselves to our age and survive in the ardent competion.So they dip into everying and try to become a jack of all trade .
　　In my opinion,their arguments are just the sides of the same coin.To overcome the one-sidedness of either piont of view,a combination of the two would be desirable.In a word,we should read both selectively and extensively.Only so can we advance and be perfection.
