The invention of Concorde was a huge step forward in airplane history.It flew faster than the speed that the Earth goes round.It was like a time machine.If the plane left London at 10:30 a.m.,it arrived at New York at 8:30 a.m.the same day.
But there were many problems:the plane was very noisy,and some believed its noise was bad for the environment.Even normal jet engine airplanes produce noise pollution,but Concorde could do harm to people's ears.In a terrible crash in 2000,near Paris,113 people died,and after that fewer people wanted to fly on Concorde.It became too expensive to continue the service,and at the end of October 2003,Concorde made its last flight.
