英军统帅格兰特1875年3月7日在伦敦家中病逝
General Sir James Hope Grant GCB (July 22,1808 – March 7,1875),British general,was the fifth and youngest son of Francis Grant of Kilgraston,Perthshire,and brother of Sir Francis Grant,President of the Royal Academy.

In 1859 he was appointed,with the local rank of lieutenant-general,to be Commander of British Troops in China and Hong Kong and to lead the British land forces in the united French and British expedition against China.

where he took a leading part in the reform of the educational and training systems of the forces,which followed the Franco-German War.The introduction of annual army manoeuvres was largely due to Sir James Hope Grant.In 1872 he was gazetted general.He died in London on the 7th of March 1875.

额尔金（James Bruce,8th earl of Elgin,12th earl of Kincardine,1811～1863） 为破坏巴特农神庙额尔金之子.英国外交官.1811年生.出身于苏格兰贵族,姓名是詹姆斯·布鲁斯.1841年他继承“额尔金”伯爵的爵位,为英国第8代“额尔金”伯爵.1842年任牙买加总督.1846年任加拿大总督.1857年7月任英国对华全权专使,并率领一支陆海军赴华.12月,与葛罗所率法军在香港集结.12月29日,英法联军攻占广州.次年春,北上天津.5月,攻陷大沽炮台.6月,迫清政府签订《中英天津条约》.1859年回国.不久,重任英国对华全权专使,同葛罗复率英法联军来华.次年8月,又陷大沽炮台,攻占天津.10月,进北京,焚毁圆明园.按英国外交部训令,迫清政府签订《中英北京条约》,割让“粤东九龙司”一地.1861年南下香港,依约划割九龙.1月10日,在港督府举行受地典礼.1月19日,参加接收九龙土地的仪式.旋即率英军离港回国.1862年调任印度总督,次年,死于任上.
