我是这样理解的,能坐在里面的,就是in,如果它比较小,不可能把你放在里面的,就用on.

小的交通工具如bike用on，但是交通工具一般都较大，用in。两者都可以用by。

主要是因为前面有冠词a，如果没有a，就可以用by bike了
by car
by plane 交通工具前的介词一般都是用by,
但是假如在交通工具有了个冠词或者形容词就要改用on了。
例如：on a car ,

on the plane
