cannot 是主观上不能做,比如 I cannot shoot him .是我不能向他射击的意思,而 I could not shoot him,则是我射不到他,我不能够射到他,这样明白点么,could not 是指客观上做不到某事,你可以简单的理解为汉语的 我不做 和 我做不到 .
我们常听到的 I cannot do it 是说我不能这样做,是主观意识下的不能这样做,做了就犯错了,而I could not do it ,是我做不了这个,是没能力做的而不是主观下不去做.
当然在虚拟语气中 cannot 就会表示为 could not
